ROYAL VISITOR IN VICTORIA
PLEASANT DAYS FOR DUKE
“KNIGHTHOOD OF ROAD” CONFERRED United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received November 9, 10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, November 9. A programme of many contrasts was carried out by the Duke of Gloucester to-day. Beginning with an address to the cadets at the Flinders Naval Depot, the Duke visited the Commercial Travellers' Club and had conferred upon him the honour of the “Knighthood of the Road.” The next visit was to the Conference of the Empire Service League, where he was welcomed by men from all corners of the Empire to whom he conveyed greetings from the Prince of Wales, whose message said: “No part of my tour in 1920 conveyed such happy memories as the meetings with the servicemen of Australia and New Zealand.” The next engagement was at the polo matches at Moonee Valley racecourse, where the Royal visitor had luncheon with the officials. The Duke watched the games for four hours, returning to attend the State Governor's garden party. Later he attended the brilliant inaugural dinner of the new Lord Mayor (Mr Wales).
