REDUCTIONS PROPOSED INNEWFOUNDLAND

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 1. 8.15 p.m.) ST. JOHNS (Newfoundland), October 31. Tariff reductions totalling 650,000 dollars the basis of last year's imports, were announced to-night, to become effective on December 31. Mr Thomas Lodge, Commissioner of Public Utilities, has noted the marked improvement in the country's economic condition, and said that he hoped that with further prosperity further reductions would be possible next year.
