Dr. Cox has returned from a visit to Hanmer Springs.

Mr W. R. Kemball left Auckland cn Tuesday by the Monowai for Australia.

Mr C. Alma Baker arrived at Auckland from Sydney by the Monowai to spend the summer in New Zealand.

Dr. L. C. L. Averill, of Christchurch, returned to the Dominion by the Niagara after a visit to a number of obstetrical Clinics in the United States.

Dr. F. P. Kepp;!, Litt.D., LLX>., president of the Carnegie Corporation, will visit New Zealand in February next.

Mr G. T. Dawson, chairman of the Timaru Harbour Board, is attending the annual conference of the Harbours* Association in Christchurch. Messrs B. M. Field (Christchurch), W. Ellerington (Paeroa), and J. T. Marshall (Invercargill) are registered at the Dominion.

Mr A. L. M. Willis, postmaster at Te Aroha. has been appointed postmaster at Rotorua, in place of Mr A. M. Robertson, who has been transferred to Grey mouth.

Mr G. D. Virtue, president of the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, is attending the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce in Christchurch. Recent arrivals at the Grosvenor include: Messrs H. L. Holthouse, L. H. Jenkins. J. S. Payne (Wellington), K. Willis, F. Eller, F. G. Bate (Christchurch) .

Messrs Malcolm Fraser, D. Ardell, of the Government Tourist Department (Wellington), and Inspector J. Cummings (Wellington), were in Timaru yesterday.

Messrs J. H. Davies (Wellington), W. Drake, H Walsham, V. A. Hetherington, G. Sutherland, (Christchurch), and A. Deans (Dunedin), are registered at the Empire.

Advice has been received that Sir James Grose, general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., who is at present in England on a visit to the bank’s board of directors, intends returning to New Zealand by the R.M.S. Rangitata leaving London on November 15. and due at Auckland about December 19. Sir James Grose left New Zealand for London at the end of May.
