THE WEATHER
Dominion Meteorologist. General situation —An anti-cyclone still covers the greater portion of the Dominion, but a depression extends from the Tasman Sea across the southern districts. Winds —Variable but moderate to fresh westerly to southerly predominating. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea —Moderate to fresh west to south winds; seas moderate in the northern portion; rather rough in the southern portion. Weather—Mainly fair to cloudy, but unsettled in southern districts of the South Island, with rain at places and showers extending also to parts of the East Coast; temperatures becoming cooler. Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind —Moderate southerly to easterly. Weather—Rather unsettled, but mainly fair to cloudy and cool. Conditions in Timaru. Although the sun shone in Timaru yesterday morning and conditions were warm, the sky clouded over in the afternoon and rain threatened when the wind veered to the south-east. Late at night however, the sky became clearer with a colder temperature.
