SIR APIRANA NGATA

APPRECIATION OF SERVICES By Telegraph Preps Association WELLINGTON. November 1. A personal letter has been addressed by the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes to Sir Apirana Ngata. in appreciation of the services he has rendered to New Zealand in a Ministerial capacity, and as the representative of the Maori people. Mr Forbes says that throughout a long association he had always found Sir Apirana Ngata an upright and loyal colleague, and in his Ministerial capacity as representative of the Maori race he had always had very closely to his heart, everything appertaining to their welfare. Mr Forbes said that he was grateful, as he felt sure his fellow members of Cabinet would be, for Sir Apirana Ngata’s assurance that he would be glad to render all the assistance that he could as one of the Maori members of Parliament to the Government and the country, to prevent any misunderstanding arising, and to make smooth the administration qf Native Affairs. Mr Forbes said that as he himself was assuming the offices that had been rendered vacant by Sir Apirana Ngata's resignation, he would indeed be glad to have Sir Apirana Ngata’s co-operation and advice at all times. He would miss him as a colleague, and trusted that their long personal friendship would last to the end of life.
