GERALDINE

SUCCESSFUL GARDEN PARTY In perfect weather, the annual garden party in the interests of the Geraldine Methodist Church, held at the Domain yesterday afternoon, proved most successful, the proceedings being enhanced by the selections played by the Geraldine District Band under Mr E. Undrill. The function was attended by the Mayor (Mr B. R. Macdonald), who wished the appeal every success. An apology was received from the Mayoress, who was absent in Timaru.

The stalls were laden with a variety of goods and produce, which found ready purchasers. As the afternoon was very warm, the ice cream and soft drink stall proved a popular attraction, while the afternoon tea marquee also did brisk business. Croquet competitions were conducted by Mesdames J. P. Cliff and W. H. Broad, Mr G. Loach being in charge of the bowling competition. The stallholders were as follows: Cake and produce stall, Mesdames W. G. Sherratt, W. Fyfe and E. Undrill; young ladies’ fancy stall, Misses E, Coomber and I. Logan; sweets and ice cream stall, Misses I. Henry, M. McKeown and K. Davis; refreshment marquee, Mesdames N. Sherratt, R. J. McKeown, L, S. R. King, P. Davis, B. Pizzey, A. South, E. Smith, A. Sutherland, L. Mitchell, E. Grayburn and F. Neutze and helpers.
