LATE MAJOR WALTER
THE FUNERAL The funeral of the late Major Stephen Walter took place in Timaru yesterday. On the arrival of the casket from Christchurch, a short but impressive service was conducted at St. Mary’s Church by the Ven. Archdeacon H. W. Monaghan, those who assembled to pay a last tribute of respect being fully representative of the organisations with which Major Walter had been associated during his residence in Timaru. Numerous floral tributes also formed evidence of the esteem in which Major Walter was held. The cortege comprised over 20 motor vehicles. a number of people also assembling at the graveside, where the service was conducted by Archdeacon Monaghan. The pall bearers were Messrs W, Howell, B. Howell, R. H. Hill, J. D. H. Buchanan. L. E. Pinch and W. D. Ferguson (Wellington).
