PRICE OF BUTTER

ARTIFICIAL MEASURES CONDEMNED

United Press Association—By Electric Tel egraph—Copyrigh t LONDON. October 30. Mr Maggs, of the United Dairies,

Limited, speaking at a meeting, said

that in many great dairying countries of Europe, and in some of our Dominions, the price of butter was artificially maintained at 100 to 300 per cent, above the price obtained for export butter. If these countries allowed their own nationals to buy butter at world prices, the apparent glut would soon disappear. The world price would rise, with greater benefit to the producer than was obtained by the existing method of artificial high prices.
