Chief Inspector Bowden, who was concerned in the investigation of the trunk murder retired to-day. He says the identity of the murderer is known but there is insufficient evidence for his arrest. Chief Inspector Bowden told “The Daily Mail” that, although facts defini itely point to a Londoner whose car | was seen at Brighton on the day the ; trunk was deposited at the station. ! the identity of the victim, the locality I of the crime and even the manner of I death has not been discovered. A cheap brown fibre trunk left at the Brighton railway station was openj ed by officials on June 18 and found to j contain the body of a female lacking the head and limbs. Later a suitcase was found at King’s Cross station which contained a woman’s head and J feet, believed to belong to the same J person. The Brighton trunk was de- ! posited on June 6 and the King’s Cross j suitcase on the next day.
