At the wool sales 9266 bales were offered, of which 8470 were sold, also 1371 privately. The recent advance in prices was fully maintained to-day. The market was very firm with a widened demand for better class wools. Greasy Merino made to 19’,d per lb. constituting a new record for the current wool-selling season. The “Yorkshire Observer” says that the brighter tone at Bradford is largely [ due to the prospect of a resumption of ! German buying. Germany is clearly j getting, directly and indirectly, con- j siderable supplies from the Dominions and South America. This was costly, 'and they would welcome a relaxation of restrictions. The council of the International I Wool Federation passed a resolution urging members to request their respective Governments to consider applying quotas and other defensive measures against Japanese wool products, owing to the rapid and alarming extension cf Japanese exports at prices i damaging to the industries of member | countries. The council also favoured standard- i ised conditions for wool sales in various i countries, ensuring smoother inter- j 1 national transactions.
