BRIDE OF SEVENTY-TWO

VILLAGE DANCE ROMANCE When Mrs Mary Hatwell, aged 72, was married to Mr Tom Bradbury, aged 73, at Nuneaton, England, lately, the bride carried a bouquet of water lilies, made up by Mr George Bouskell, a solicitor, of Market Bosworth, and a well-known Maitland horticulturist. The marriage was the result of a chance meeting last Whitsuntide, when Mrs Hatwell went out for a drive with her son and called at Sutton Cheney, where a village “wake” was in progress. There she met Mr Tom Bradbury, whom she had not seen for 40 years. They danced together. So much was Mrs Hatwell's dancing admired, that the bandmaster insisted on playing a special slow waltz for her benefit. Mr Bradbury was her partner and, during the dance, he proposed. Larry Gains, the coloured boxer, interrupted his training for the Peterson fight to give the bride away, and Jim Wardle, a former huntsman of the Atherstone Hounds, was the best man.
