AMAZING SPEED OF D. H. COMET RETURNING BY LONG JUMPS British Official Wireless RUGBY, October 29. Speed records less than a week old have been swept away in the return flight to England. The De Haviland Comet, piloted by Messrs Cathcart-Jones and Ken Waller, who were fourth in the air race, left Melbourne at 9.50 p.m. on Friday, and accomplished the journey to Charleville in 50 minutes less time than was occupied by the winners of the race, Messrs Scott and Black. A further 21 hours were gained on the winners’ performances during the Charleville-Darwin stage, and the Mel-bourne-Darwin flight took less than 23 hours. On the next stage, to Singapore, they flew 2084 miles in 10 hours 20 minutes, making Singapore from Melbourne in 34i> hours. Leaving again at 11.20 last night they were sighted 8 hours 20 minutes later over Calcutta, on the way to Allahabad, where their arrival is awaited.
