SPORTS AT WAIHI
AN ENJOYABLE GATHERING At the invitation of Mir. a J. MtoiieWigg and Mr J. L. Stone Wluk. *' large number of parent.s mul filrndn were present at Waihi School. Win Chester, on Saturday afternoon, to enjoy tlie annual sport:.. Unfortunately the fine weather of the morning changed during the afternoon and a cold and penetrating wind, which rather spoilt the proceedings, sprang up. However, the chilly weather in no way deterred the youthful competitors, and it was a pleasure to see tho small boys so earnest in their endeavours to win and so happy to have their parents with them on this great day of the year. The hero of the day was Wynne Fisher, youngest son of Mr and Mrs H. H. Fisher, “Shenley," Albury, who not only was the winner of six challenge cups but also broke two school records. Afternoon tea was served on the verandahs, and in the drawing-room, which was decorated with bowls of lilac, cherry blossom and tulips. Mrs Stone-Wigg received the guests wearing a frock of dark blue crepe de chene with vest of beige georgette, and a wide blue straw hat with wreath of field flowers. After the programme was finished the prizes were presented by Mr H. H. Fisher.
