FLORAL PAGEANT

BRILLIANT SUCCESS IN MELBOURNE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received October 26, 10.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 26. Despite the postponement of the floral pageant through bad weather, the event when held to-day was the most spectacular and colourful procession even seen in the streets of Melbourne, One hundred thousand people lined the footpaths, roofs and windows, and all traffic was suspended. The band of the Grenadier Guards and fifteen other bands took part. All the floats taking part florally depicted incidents in the last 100 years’ history. The wealth of flowers displayed justified Melbourne’s claim to being a garden city.
