Messrs Clive Powley (Sydney) and A. E. Wells (Wellington) are staying at the Empire. Mr C. J Cummings, of the Dunedin office of the Government Life Insurance Department, has been transferred to the head office at Wellington. Mr C. J. Hurley, principal clerk in the head office of the Valuation Department. Wellington, has been appointed officer-in-charge at Auckland, succeeding Mr H. A. Anderson, who has retired.
Messrs H. G. Gibson (Dunedin), John Dudley, R. Riddell (Melbourne), J. Tatnall, R. Parry. L. Pacher, L. Holland (Sydney), W. G. Bilton and H. C. Bilton (Cromwell) are registered at the Dominion
The Timaru Harbour Board at its meeting yesterday passed a motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr Walter Hayinan. who for many years had been a member of the Board, and was chairman from 1924 to 1928. Messrs H. Richards. R. J. Smith. T. Hennessy. C G. Bridge, L. H. Bowe (Wellington). O. G. Blackler (Pleasant Point). A. Chatham (Sydney) A J McKay. W. H. Cattell (Christchurch >! W. C. Brotherwood (Dunedin) and E. H. Wing (Auckland) are staying at the Grosvenor.
The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, will pass through Timaru at 10 15 this morning by the special train carrying the official partv to Kurow for the opening of the Waitaki hydroelectric works. His Excellency will return north by special train this evening.
