A RAY OF SUNSHINE

Two big, bright eyes, As blue as the skies,

Fair hair that is trying to curl; A cute, roguish smile, On her face all the while, Baby Norma's a precious wee girl.

She chatters all day In her babyish way, Of birdies, and lambs and flowers, A baby most rare Is wee Norma Claire, May she never have any sad hours.

My pet lamb she feeds, And thinks that it needs To be fed every hour of the day; And when I am busy, She makes me quite dizzy, By dodging about in my way.

My rhyme’s at an end. But with this I’ll send A photo of Norma when small; She’s now such a deary, And like a wee fairy; She’s the baby I love best of all. (5 Marks and a Merit Card awarded to Nancy Turnbull, Redcliffs.) THE BEST BABY One sunny day in spring when the fairies had finished their preparation for the spring-time ball, the queen said she would give a new silver wand to the fairy who brought her the nicest and happiest baby. As all the fairies were to collect the baby they liked best and to take it to the queen that night at sunset, they at once went out to find the one which they thought would most please the queen. As the sun was setting they all stood round their queen with babies of all sorts and sizes, and one by one they walked up and showed the queen their choice. What a collection there was!
