BABY

Chuckling and romping, your’re always full of fun, Crowing at the splashing rain, laughing at the sun; Tumbling and falling, tripping on small feet, Throwing baby kisses to all of those you meet.

Always up to mischief, naughty little pet, You love to splash in water and make yourself all wet; You love to find a mud-hole and in it have a bath, And when they try to clean you, all you do is laugh.

You always are so. jolly, so cuddlesome and wee, You stand upon one little foot and clap your hands in glee, You sing to baby music, and if by any chance You hear somebody playing, round and round you dance.

Cuddling In the blankets, meant to be asleep, But pulling tiny booties off those playful feet; Calling to the passers-by, as soon as they come near, Naughty baby makes a snatch and tries to pull their hair!

Then lying back In triumph, blankets in a muddle, Baby opens dimpled arms, waiting for a cuddle; And as he gurgles in your ear, that dear wee lad so sweet Kisses you, his arms grow slack, and so he falls asleep. (5 Marks and a Merit Card awarded to Sybil Dale, Timaru.)
