DAMAGES CLAIM

VERDICT OF JURY WELLINGTON, October 26. After considering for nearly four and a half hours the issues put to them the jury hearing the claim by Alfred Herbert Williams, furniture salesman, of Wellington, against Stanley Read, dairy farmer, for £2358 damages for loss and injuries resulting from an accident near Tawa Flat, returned with a verdict in favour of plaintiff, whom they awarded £290/2/9. However, counsel for the defendant was given seven days in which to move for a new trial on the ground that the jury’s answers to the issues were inconsistent.
