PAREORA

OPENING OF TENNIS SEASON The opening of the Pareora Tennis Club was held on Labour Day in fine weather. During the afternoon a competition for the Bridge Cup was held, the winners being Miss Mary Macphaii and G. Pratt. The season was formally opened during the afternoon tea adjournment by the president, Mr P. A. Coote. who welcomed the players and visitors, among whom was Mr Wilson, president of the South Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association. Mr Wilson suitably replied. CRIB TOURNAMENT The weekly crib tournaments continue to be popular. The winners this week were Mrs E. Bennison and Mr S, Wilkes, and for the previous week Miss Coote and Mr P. O’Connor.
