ENORMOUS LOSSES INFLICTED United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright KOBE, September 25. Latest figures show the great loss of life and enormous damage caused by the typhoon. The death roll is 2502 and 580 are missing. The houses demolished number 74,000 and the schools 289. Agriculture damage, excluding Osaka, Nagoya and prefectures, amounts to 102,000,000 yen, and the damage to buildings 317,000,000 yen. Osaka’s loss exceeds one billion yen. Over 10,000 craft were wrecked. An inquiry will probably be held regarding school destruction, which was responsible for nearly half the deaths.
INSURANCE LOSSES NEW ZEALAND COMPANIES SUFFER United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 26, 9.10 p.m.) TOKIO, September 26. The New Zealand Insurance Company has estimated its loss through the typhoon at 340,000 yen, mostly in marine coverage. The South British and other Australian Companies suffered considerable losses which have not been computed.
