SOME ARRESTING PHASES United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright GENEVA, September 25. The Council of the League of Nations, decided that Russia should contribute 79 units, equal to France and Germany. Afghanistan is assessed one unit. Britain plays 105 units, amounting to £170,000. Dr. Motta (Switzerland), speaking at the League Council, said Switzerland claimed £2,000,000 in gold from Britain, France and Italy as war time damages to Swiss subjects’ property in foreign lands. Mr R. A. Eden moved its rejection. M. Barthou said heatedly: Our territory was invaded; a sacred soil violated and 1,500,000 of our sons were killed. Our losses were incalculable, yet Switzerland claims 100,000 francs. The Argentine representative was appointed to examine the claim.

Afghanistan’s application for admission to the League was a surprise. It will be considered at a special meeting of the Assembly in the afternoon. ADMISSION TO LEAGUE VOTE IN FAVOUR OF AFGHANISTAN United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 27, 12.24 a.m.) GENEVA. September 26. The commission unanimously voted in favour of Afghanistan’s admission to the League.
