THE TENNIS CLUB At the thirty-fifth annual meeting of the Orari Tennis Club, Mr R. Earl presided. The annual report and balance sheet, which were adopted, revealed that the year had not been so successful as the previous year. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr W. E. Cook; vicepresidents, Mesdames G. A. M. Macdonald. W. Quirke, Messrs W. Quirke, H. Killoh, S. R. Muff, O’Brien, C. H. Gerard; captain, Mr R. Earl; vicecaptain, Mr J. Reid; secretary aifd treasurer, Mrs W. Watson; committee, Misses M. Blissett, M. Dixon, M. Stevens, K. Muff. Mr A. Henderson; delegate to the Town and Country Tennis Association, Mr J. Reid; auditor, Mr L. Pierce. It was decided that membership fees should be the same as last year, and opening day should be on Saturday, October 6. MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB The annual competition shoot between teams from the Orari Men’s and Women’s Miniature Rifle Clubs was held on Monday, and resulted in a win for the men by 760 points to 753. The scores were:— Women.—Miss Mason 78. Miss Gould 78, Miss S. Jenkins 78, Mrs J. Henderson 77; Mrs W. Watson 75; Mrs L Henderson 75, Mrs A. Rysdale 74 Mrs F. Priddle 73, Miss A. Brenton 73’, Mrs A. Wright 72; total 753. Men—A. Rysdale 79, T. Gilder 79, C. Gould 78, J. McClintock 78, A. Eari 77, L. Wood 76, A. England 76, J. Henderson 75, G. Gould 74, B. Hewson 68; total 760. THE WEATHER After mild weather light rain set in on Monday and steady rain on Tuesday. The ground is saturated, and water is lying in pools.
