CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, September 15. Otago runners outclassed entries from other provinces in the New Zealand cross-country championships held at Wingatui to-day. The weather was fine but dull and the course heavy. From the start to finish Otago always had sufficient men in front to ensure winning the teams’ race, and the result of individual championship rested between Pullar (Otago champion) and Barnes, who won the championship in 1932. Weller (West Coast), 37min ssec 10 In the teams’ race Otago secured TO points, Canterbury 37 points, Wellington 44 points, Auckland 56 points. West Coast of the North Island 79 points, Hawke's Bay 116 points. At the annual New Zealand conference of the harriers' delegates it was decided that an endeavour should be made for a New Zealand cross-coulltry team to visit the Australian States next year, and compete at the Australian championships; that next season’s Marathon should be held under the control of the West Coast North Island Centre; that the next New Zealand cross-country championships should be held at Wellington. A Canterbury remit to separate the control of cross-country running from the New Zealand Athletic Association and form the New Zealand CrossCountry Association, was lost.
