MARKETS FIRM Average entries came forward for the fort-nightiy sale held yesterday at St. Andrews. The fat cattle sale was a good one and the store and dairy cattle sold at prices in keeping with other sales. Fat ewes sold at late rates, but several pens of fat wethers were back slightly. In the store sheep section. the sale for good sheep was firm at late rates. Pigs of all classes met with an improved sale. Prices were:— Cattle. —Fat steers to £ll/17/6. fat heifers £4 '2 6 to £7 12 6. fat cows £3 17/6 to £775/- .springing cows to £3 10/-, springing heifers to £2/15/-. Cows in profit to £3/2/6. Empty 18 months heifers 35/-. 18 months steers to £2/6/-. Cow and calf 34/- each. Pigs.—'Weaners 10/- to 15/-, slips ro 18/-. Fat sheep.—Fat wethers 22 - to 24/-. Fat ewes best 18/9 to 20/3. Fat ewes (unfinished) 15/- to 16/6. Fat hoggets 19/2. Store sheep.—Good threequarterbred ewe hoggets 25/6, medium three-quarter-bred ewe hoggets 19/9; aged threequarter bred ewes in lamb 17/6 to 18/9.
