ROTARY GATHERING IN U.S.A.
PLAN FOR FRIENDLIER UNDERSTANDING
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received June 26. 11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 25. A message from Detroit says that 10,000 delegates, representing 70 nations, gathered for the opening session of the International Rotary Convention. In his presidential address, Mr John Nelson declared that the organisation “is a realm without frontiers, ’ which could not countenance discrimination within its borders, because of racial prejudices. The Mayor, Mr Frank Couzens, gave an address of welcome, which was responded to by Mr J. M. A. Ilott, of Wellington, New Zealand, on behalf of the foreign delegates. Jhe Australian and New Zealand party, consisting of 16 persons, have established their headquarters at the St. Atler Hotel and enjoyed several days outing on I#ke Mackinao, as well as automobile sightseeing tours of Detroit and the vicinity.
