THE WEATHER
Dominion Metorologist. General situation. —A rather deep vigorous depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Pressure is still high to the north and east Of the Dominion. Winds. —Moderate to strong northeast to northerly reaching gale force at places especially about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters). —Becoming rough south of Kawhia and Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Strong northerly winds to gales and rough seas. Weather. —Cloudy to overcast with heavy rain developing in the western districts from Kawhia southwards and in the far south, elsewhere fair to cloudy at first; almost general rain is likely within the next 36 hours; temperatures mild. Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind. —Moderate to fresh north-east to northerly. Weather.—Fair to cloudy and mild. Conditions in Timaru. After a frost of two degrees in Timaru yesterday the weather was fine throughout the day with bright sunshine. There were indications at night of a heavy frost this morning.
