ELECTION OF TROTTING CLUB COMMITTEE.
To the Editor ol “ The Timaru Herald ” Sir,—Would you kindly inform your readers the particulars of the voting on the motion to appoint three members to fill the vacancies caused by the resignations of Messrs Kilgour, Morton and Wilcox. It is the opinion of myself and others that the appointments made were unnecessary, knowing that the annual election takes place next month. I understand that two of the three members elected are compelled by the rules of the club to retire before the annual general meeting, which will be held on July 30. The action of the committee seems to be unfair to other memberss of the club who may be seeking election, •as a sitting committee man has an advantage over other candidates. The present committee had already a sufficient number of members to form a quorum, and in my opinion it wa3 quite unnecessary to fill the positions. I write from the standpoint of an owner of trotters and a member and supporter of the club.—l am, etc., C. A. LINDSAY. Timaru, June 26.
