Gamble (Sydney), E. A. Fraser (Auckland), and G. Blackwood (Dunedin). are staying at the Grosvanor. Latest arrivals at the Empire include: Messrs Geo. Hart, W. A. Wilson, E. A. Murrell, F. W. Hobbs, A. J. Foster, A. E. Just, J. Parker, J. S. Headowcroft. D. E. Selby. W. D. Blair (Christchurch), S. W. Webb, F. E. Ellisson. G. Hodgkins and Dr T. McKibbin (Wellington). The Right Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister of Finance) accompanied by Dr. R. M. Campbell, arrived in Timaru yesterday from the West Coast and are at the Grosvenor. They left Hokitika at 9.35 a.m. for Timaru via Otira and Springfield, and arrived here at about 7.15. They are to leave to-day for Queenstown. Mr W. H. Stevens, who for the last cig-it years has acted as director and manager for Fluenzo! and Q-Tol Pty., Ltd., has, consequent on lhe death of Mr Cecil W. Palmer, been appointed managing director. Mr J R. Kirk, M. has been appointed chairman of directors, and Mr Will Appleton has joined the board as a director. Mr Stevens left for Sydney by the Monowai yesterday. Mr H. P. Chinchen, of the London head office of the National Bank of New Zealand, and formerly of Auckland, has been appointed the representative cf the Auckland Chamber of Commerce on the Council of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the* British Empire, vice Mr A. Rowlands, who. owing to continued absences from London, has been obliged to tender his resignation.
