EVIL SAPPHIRE

A chain of mishaps among well-to-do Hindu residents of Naghpur, is ascribed to the evil influence of a beautiful sapphire. The sapphire was given to a Naghpur merchant, who within three days lost business orders worth several thousand rupees, and was involved in n car accident. He gave the stone to a lawyer, who, within 12 hours, was knocked down by a car. The sapphire was then given to another lawyer, whose wife died suddenly. It was left in the custody of a cook, who was severely burned when the kitchen caught fire. Two hours after it was again given away, and the recipient was thrown from a motor cycle, while taking it home. The sapphire is now fn the possession of a Farsee woman, and it is believed that the evil influence has been broken, now that it is not In the hands of a Hindu.
