Under the title of Pow-wows and Growls, for Leaders and Owls, a course of instruction is at present being held in Highfield Den every Monday evening. The course which is being run by “Rama” (G.S.M. E. Manthorp) was intended primarily for the Patrol Leaders of the Highfield Troops, but an invitation was extended to the other Troops in town and at present there are a dozen Patrol Leaders and Scouters meeting every week. The sessions are proving very interesting, as they are the result of experience and much reading. They are very comprehensive and take in such subjects as, Aims and Objects of Scouting, Its Origin and History, Troop records, Patrol System, Tests, Camping, Hiking, Picture writing, Sign language, Discipline, Troop and Patrol meetings. Specimen Troop and Patrol meetings will be held and at the end of the course, a questionnaire will be set, to test the knowledge of those who have attended.

Some of the interesting parts of this course such as Picture writing, and Sign language are well worth taking note of, and how we have acquired the alphabet. Opportunities will be given for Patrol Leaders to air their views On any pet subjects and they will also be given chances to take a Patrol on some of the usual subjects.
