LARGE INCREASE IN WOODLANDS AREA British Official Wireless (Received May 16, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, May 15. Sixteen thousand acres were added to the woodlands of Great Britain during the year which ended on September 30 last. Nearly 52,000,000 trees were planted under the direction of the Forestry Commission. It is the aim of the Commissioners to acquire each year the same acreage of plantable land as that planted, so that the area in wood shall remain nearly as possible intact. The total area now planted by the Commissioners in 14 years is 232,711 acres.
