THE WEATHER
Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind—Fresh southerly. Weather—Rain at times; cold. Dominion Meteorologist. General situation —Pressure is still very high to the east of New Zealand, a small cyclonic depression is centred north-west of North Cape. A low pressure trough extends southward from it across the Eastern Tasman Sea. Winds—Strong north-east to northerly, winds reaching gale force in parts of the Far North, backing later to west and south-west in for southern districts. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rough north of East Cape, becoming rough later on the West Coast, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to strong northerly winds, backing rater to southerlies. Seas rough. Weather—Cloudy to overcast in western and northern districts with fairly general rain developing and extending later to eastern parts, temperatures mild but becoming cooler tomorrow. Conditions in Timaru. Yesterday was a day of bright sunshine in Timaru for the greater part of the day. Towards mid-afternoon the sky clouded over, and the temperature fell slightly. Cloudy conditions prevailed last night.
