The Holmglen, which arrived from the south on Tuesday night, loaded yesterday for Wellington, Wanganui', New Plymouth and Waikato. She sailed in the afternoon for Lyttelton. The Breeze arrived from Oamaru yesterday to load for Wellington, New Plymouth and Wanganui. She departed later in the day for Lyttelton. The Poolta is due to reach Timaru from Oamaru to-day. She will take Napier and Gisborne shipments before sailing for Lyttelton. The Opihi should be here from Oamaru to-morrow to load for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth. The Port Whangarei is scheduled to arrive from the south to-morrow to load for Wellington, Tauranga, Auckland and Whangarei. The Gale should call at Timaru from Lyttelton on Saturday to discharge northern cargo. She is to proceed south the same day, being scheduled to return on May 9 to load for Wellington and Wanganui. Steamer Renamed. The Union Company’s steamer Katoa, which has been sold to Moller and Company, Shanghai, and which is now in Wellington prior to leaving for British North Borneo, has been renamed the Winifred Moller. Several other Union Company ships have been sold to Moller and Company after lengthy service in New Zealand waters. The Karori, disposed of in July, 1928, has been named the Katie Moller, the Kauri sold in November, 1928, the Minnie Moller, and the Kurow, sold last year, the Mabel Moller. It is not known definitely -when the Winifred Moller will leave Wellington, but her departure wall not be until next week at the earliest. The First Coptic. Fifty years ago the White Star liner Coptic arrived at Liverpool after completing her first charter to the Occidental and Oriental Line for the trans-Facific service. Following alterations, she was placed on the United Kingdom-New Zealand run; then, in 1894, after being reboilered, she went back again to the Oriental and Occidental service between Hongkong and San Francisco. In 1906 she was transferred to the Persia Steamship Company, a British flag subsidiary of the Pacific Mail Line, and was renamed Persia for further service in the Pacific. Japanese owners subsequently named her Persia Maru, and after trading between Japan and the East Indies she was finally laid up in 1924. being scrapped the following year. Built in 1881 by Messrs Harland and Wolff, the Coptic was a longdistance adaptation of their Atlantic design, and ran a few trips to New York. The present-day Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Coptic was built in ; 1928 by Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson.
