Horses wandering about the line held up an excursion train from Whangarei to Opua. On the journey to Opua three horses were found near the line, and the driver of the train reduced speed to such an extent as to enable the fireman to go ahead and drive the horses away. On the return journey to Whangarei the same procedure was necessary.
