CRICKET

A KNOTTY POINT By Telegraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, March 27. An interesting position has arisen in the senior cricket competition. By scoring an outright win (four points) against Union on Saturday, Old Boys finished the season one point ahead of Marist, who drew with High School. All matches that day were one-day fixtures. The Cricket Association is now faced with the problem of whether these matches can count for the championship, as it is held that two-day matches are the only ones for which it can give championship points, and that the competition closed on March 17. If last Saturday’s games are not to count, Marist would win the competition. The chairman is to give a ruling on the subject at the next meeting of the Association.
