WHITE BUTTERFLIES

SOME WAIKATO CATCHES. HAMILTON, March 26. A total of 160,715 white butterflies New Zealand’s newest pest, have been delivered dead by children throughout the Waikato in response to a competition staged by a Hamilton retail firm. Some weeks ago it announced that prizes would be offered to children who collected the largest number of butterflies within a specified time. At the conclusion 16 competitors had bags of more 1000. One boy had more than 10,000 to his credit, and two boys secured 8223 and 5000 specimens respectively. Several girls also had catches of more than 4000.
