An important musical event in Melbourne will be the season of Percy Grainger at the Town Hall. J. and N. Tait announce that the opening date of the famous Australian pianist and composer will be Saturday night, April 14. Percy Grainger is as famous as a composer as he is known the whole world over as a great musician. He has had hundreds of his compositions published. Chatting about his composing, Percy Grainger said: “I suppose it will seem strange to a good many people who are familiar with pictures of composers immersed in thought at their harpsichords and so forth, but I do most of my composing on the trains while I am journeying on my concert tours. The whole time in the train I am either composing, scoring, or revising. I look forward to the train almost as others would a holiday on that account. The life of a concert artist suits me as a composer admirably.”
