CHAMBERLAIN SCHOOL

CONCERT AND PRIZE-GIVING. The annual prize-giving ceremony was held in the schoolroom. Moreen Adam; play, “Merry and Bright,” Mary Stevenson, Cora Sargent, Jean Irving,' Janet Barrett, Donald Heddell, Philip Sargent and Richard Perry; “Ribbon Dance,” junior girls; recitation, Ngaire Adam and Cara Hamilton; “Aiken Drum,” infants; folk dance “Sellenger's Round” senior pupils; recitation. Nita Sargent and Moreen Adam; closing choruses, “John Brown’s Body." “Some Folks Do,” “Keep on Hoping,” “God Save the King.” The chairman, Mr H. Adam, then called upon Mrs Barrett, senior, to present the prizes as follows: — Primer 1: Jack Adam. Primer 2; Elizabeth Smillie. Primer 4: Eileen Hamilton, James Barrett. Std. I —Nita Sargent, Ngaire Adam, Cara Hamilton, Moreen Adam. Std. ll—Doris Irving, Annie Barrett. Std. Ill —Gilbert Sargent. Std. IV —Peter Perry. Form I—Jean Irving, Janet Barrett, Philip Sargent. Form II —Cora Sargent, Richard Perry. Form lll—Mary Stevenson. Donald Heddell. Special prizes for attendance; Janet Barrett, Peter Perry. Teachers’ spelling prizes: Mary Stevenson, Jean Irving, Annie Barrett, Nita Sargent. The surprise of the evening was the Christmas tree, laden with sweets, gifts, and balloons, which was pulled in after supper. Dancing concluded a most enjoyable party for both young and old.
