CONTROL OF ATHLETICS

SERIOUS CONFLICT OF VIBIVS. United Press Association—By Eiectrlo Tel egra pb —Copyright SYDNEY, December 14. “We are completely in the dark over the whole matter,” said Mr R. Heathwood, secretary of the Amateur Athletic Associtition of New South Wales, when asked whether permission would be granted Jack Metcalfe and Teddy Hampson to go to New Zealand. News from New Zealand indicates that extensive preparations have been made for a tour by Metcalfe, Hampson and the Tasmanian, E. Barwick. It is understood that the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia sanctioned the tour, but the New’ South Wales authorities received no word of the arrangements, and officials are indignant that the Australian Union should have gone over their heads.
