S.C.M.C.C

fßy "Revs.") Many new and old members of the South Canterbury Motor Cycle Club who have already joined up for the current year are assured of a very enjoyable season, as the Committee have spared no effort in arranging a varied programme. The Ashburton Club intimated that they would like to visit Mt. Cook during Christmas week, and invited the local Club to join them. The local committee suggested that it would be better to wait until the holidays were over, when more riders would be available. Several riders have requested that the course for the 24 hour-trial be changed for next year. As this has been discussed before, and many suggestions offered, the Commiittee have now several new routes under consideration. Included on the next half-year’s programme is a social run to Hi-te-Mona in the Geraldine district. This year's hill climb at Kelcy's Bush developed into rather a keen affair, and the club’s electric timing set was brought into action. Mr. J. Parmenter assisted by Mr. J. Wood who is in charge of the set had his first experience in operating it during a climb, and they were rather embarrassed when at times it failed to function. However, they are not the first to be baffled by this set. Occasional Comments. Our Club captain was very unpopular when he failed to produce the tea billy at the Kelcy's run. Some very good runs were made on the Grass Hill at Kelcy’s Bush and one and all were very keen. P. T. Stoddart was a little over keen and when he finally gained the top was unfortunate enough to collect the fence. E. Newton started off very well on his final run, but when nearing the top a very grating sound issued forth from his machine. which promptly stopped. Eamie thinks that the spanner he lost last overhaul has come to light. G. Potts seems to have a liking for side loops and long jumps. D. Wood toured up as if nothing was a bother.

H. Barbour's luck has changed at last. He seems to understand the velocipede much better now.
