Liszt wrote several wills, in one of which he expressed the wish to be buried in the vault of the Franciscan Church in Budapest, clothed in the cassock of the Franciscan order. Another will, however, stated that he wished to be buried in the town in which he died, mid this order was carried out on his death in Bayreuth. The large assemblage of patrons of the Ritz Dance Club at Ye Goode Intente on Saturday evening were rewarded by a splendid exhibition of dancing in the final of the Club’s maxina competition. The winners, Mr D. Black and Miss Leatham were warmly applauded for their effort, as also were Mr A. Aitcheson and Miss N. Spavin, who were second, with Mr Currie and Miss Dunned third. The aggregate cup competition was closely contested. Miss Leatham, Miss Dunnett and Mr Currie tied, at the end of the series, with six points each, necessitating a dance-off, in which Miss Leatham was adjudged the winner. A number of popular novelty dances provided much entertainment throughout the evening. Prize-winners were as follows: Misses Dunnett, Jones, McBeath, M. Campbell; Messrs A. King, M. Sloan, J. Murphy and A. Bell. An important mange in the English judicial system, and cue that may be expected to have an influence in all parts of the Empire, is the passim of the grir ' jury. When. -.1 the md of August, 19 “good men and true’’ '. ere sworn in as grand jurors at the London Sessions. Sir Percival ’’larke, chairman of the Bench, said they were the last in the country > perform this duty to the State. The grand jury had in the past formed one cf the great bulwarks against oppression and persecution, said Sir Percival, but so great wus British love of Justice that over a long period of years ’ arliament had raised many protections against improper convictions, and the necessity for the grand Jury’s ervlces had grudually diminished. "So plentiful were the barriers raised in defence of an accu d person aga nst the Crown that it was surprising that prisoners were convicted at all.” said Sir Percival. “I can Jecall cases in which a prisoner has. with his special knowledge of the facts, confessed, and yet has been acquitted by the July—not because his conf sslon was untrue. but because it had been made in circumstances which rendered it inadmissible in evidence.’’
