THE LAW OF LIBEL

AMENDMENT PROPOSED. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, December 6. In the House of Representatives today, the Law of Libel Amendment Bill was reported from the Statutes Revision Committee wih amendments. The Bill originally sought protection for persons who, in good faith and without malice, published reports of the proceedings and findings of domestic tribunals established by the controlling authorities of sports organisations. The committee has amended the Bill to restrict this protection to the reports of proceedings and findings in any inquiry conducted in accordance with the rules of any organisation, conference, club or body of persons established for the control of horse racing.
