ROAD ACCIDENTS
j LIABILITY OF MOTORISTS By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, December 4. The changes in the law regarding negligence in connection with motor accidents recommended by the Public Petitions Committee in a rei>ort pre- [ sen ted to the House of Representatives I last month, are viewed with serious | concern by the executive of the Welj lington Automobile Club, and it dej cided to refer the question to the North j Island Motor Union with a view to its taking urgent action in opposition to i any alteration in the present law and ! also to seek the co-operation of the | South Island Union. The chairman, Mr E. A. Batt. observed that the proposals would throw the whole of the liability on the motorist and none on the pedestrian. A motorist might be responsible for only one per cent, of the negligence and yet he would have to suffer the whole responsibility of proving himi self not guilty.
