In the Sheffield Shield match Victoria in the first Innings made 542 (Woodful 16, Ponsford 55, Rigg, 92, Darling 188, Scaife, 73, Barnett 78). Oxenham took four wickets for 111 runs, and Andrews two for 38. Queensland, who made 349 in the first Innings, started the second strike disastrously, Brew, Allen, and Andrews, going out without opening the score. Thompson (6) and Levy (4) were batting when stumps were drawn, the board showing 10 runs for three wickets. (Received December 5, 7.50 p.m.) BRISBANE, December 5. In the Sheffield Shield match to-day, Queensland in the second innings made 162, Bensted 97 being the only one to make a stand. Levy made 23. Victoria won by an innings and 31 runs. Waimataitai, Ashbury Park; High School, a bye. The matches last week resulted as follows: — Senior Grade. South 102 (Stare 43. Campbell 13, Watson 11) beat High School 65 (Fateman 50). For High School Monaghan took 5 wickets for 42 runs; and Pateman 3 for 34; while Andressand for South toe* 7 for 21. and Stare 3 for 19. West 34 beat Waimataitai 18. For West Smith took 4 wickets for 5 runs, and Middlemis 3 for 2. For Waimataitai Heasley took 4 for 7, and Williams 3 for 9. The position of teams in this grade is as follows:—West 10, South 8, High School 8, Waimataitai 6, Main 4. Junior Grade. West 54 (Moffatt 21, McKay 13) beat South 11. For West Moffatt took 4 wickets for 1 run; Middlemis 4 for 5, and McNaughton 2 for 4. For South, Perry took 7 for 22, and Earl 3 for 25. Main 105 drew with Waimataitai 49 for 9. The position of the team In the junior competition which has now closed, is:—Main 13, Waimataitai 11, West 10, South 2.
