MACKENZIE HIGHLAND PIPE BAND.

The annual meeting of the Mackenzie Highland Pipe Band was held in the bandroom on Saturday. Mr K. Anderson occupied the chair. The balance sheet was read by the secretary and showed a credit balance of £B4 7 4.

Mr Anderson said he thought the Band was to be congratulated on the amount of the credit balance, which was due to the efforts of the bandsmen themselves, who had worked well together during the year. The fortnightly dances held during the winter months were the most successful yet held and the sincere thanks of the Band were due to the women supporters of the Band for the great work done by them. The balance sheet was adopted. Before vacating the chair. Mr Anderson expressed his thunks to the bandsmen for the way they had supported him during the year. The Band was now an asset to the county. New uniforms had been procured during the year, and the Band now paraded in first rate condition.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patrons. Messrs T. D. Burnett.' MP. J. Bitchener, M.P.. and W. Snushall; president. Mr K. Anderson; vice-presidents, Messrs T. B. Crampton and T. Westgarth; secretary, Mr J. A. Fraser; drummajor. B. Slow; pipe-major, G. Cowan: sergeant. S Page; corporal, H. Cogar; executive, president, vicepresidents. drum-major, pipe-major, and secretary. Mr W. H. White. Christchurch, was appointed to represent the Band on the Pipe Bands’ Association. A vote of thanks was passed to all who had helped the Band by donations. also to Mr W. Phillips for his donation of a photograph to be hung in the band room. Mr Anderson referred to the loss sustained by the Band through the resignation of Mr R Braddick from the Band through ill health. The secretary was instructed to write a letter expressing the sympathy of the Band and hoping he would soon be restored to health.
