Mr H. H. Fraser left yesterday on • fortnight's tour of Central Otago. Mr A. E. Anseli. M P. for Chalmers, was a passenge’ for the south by yesterday's express Mr P. A. de la Perrelle. M.P. for Awarua. passed through Timaru on hie way south yesterday morning. His Honour Mr Justice Frazer and Messrs W Cecil Prime and A. L. Monteatli. members of the Court of Arbitration. arrived in Timaru by the express from the south yesterday. Mr N. H. Russell. A.P.A.. NZ.. has been appointed secretary of the New Zealand Importers' Federation and of the Wellington Importers' Association. Dr. and Mrs G. R. Kingston, of Timaru. are now in London. Dr. Kingston passed the examination for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons while at Edinburgh. The appointment of Mr J. A. Peacock to the board of directors of the Auckland Gas Company, Limited, is announced. The vacancy was caused by the death of Sir Alfred Bankart. The Rev. H. M. Smyth, vicar of St. Peter’s Anglican Church. Onehunga, has resigned his charge as from February 28 next, owing to 111 health. Ha has been nearly 13 years at Onehunga. Mr Selwyn Holdgate has returned to New Zealand after spending several years in England. Mr Holdgate. who has been visiting his home in Timaru. will leave to-day for Auckland, where he has secured a position. Captain T. V. Hill, who has been on furlough in New Zealand, resumed command of the liner Niagara on her arrival at Auckland from Vancouver on Monday. Captain W. Martin, who has been relieving him, left for Wellington to take command of the Makura. Mr M. K. Gilmour. who lately retired from the Methodist mission in Papua, in which he has served for 33 years, latterly as chairman, arrived by the Monowal from Sydney this week with Mrs Gilmour. They will spend an extended holiday at Howtck, where Mr Gilmour's mother resides. Mr H. Worrall has resigned from the position of secretary and treasurer of the Canterbury Oeneral Labourers" Union, a position wheih he has occupied for nearly 14 years. Mr Worrall was appointed secretary of the union when Mr E J. Howard resigned the position on entering Parliament. Mr John Norman Millard M ScB.A. has been appointed headmaster of the Hutt Valley High School in place of Mr H P. Kidson who leave* at the end of the year to take up the position of principal of the Otago Boys’ High School Mr Millard has been assistant at the High School for the last seven years and head of the department of mathematics and science There were 44 applicant* for the position. Included in the party which wIU leave Timaru to-day to attend a weekend function at the Hermitage will be Messrs A P Harper, of Wellington (president of the New Zealand Alpine Club'. R S Black. ex-May or of Dunedln. E A Jones (Christchurch). R H. V Packwood, engineer -in-charge of the Wattaki hvdro electric works. P Langbeln. District Public Work Engineer, and C. J. McKenzie, of the Public Works Department. Wellington.
