UNAVAILING RESCUE EFFORTS. By Telegraph—Press Association TAUMARUNUI, November 30. A local High School boy. Norman Morris, aged 16, son of Mr Robert Morris, farmer, of Pirlaka. got into difficulties while bathing in a pool in the Wanganui River at 1.30 this afternoon. His companions, Rov Wackrow and W. Woddmass, made a determined effort to save him, but he caught them and they were compelled to free themselves. He then sank in nine feet of water. Woddmass and a High School teacher, E. St. John, who was called to the scene, dived and brought the body ashore. Artificial resphation was tried under medical supervision for more than half an hour, but ft was unavailing.
