THE WEATHER
Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind—Moderate easterly to northerly. Weather—Fine and mild Dominion Meteorologist. General situation —A moderate anticyclone covers New Zealand, while a slight westerly depression has been moving off Tasmania. Winds—Variable at first, with southerlies predominating north of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint, later tending northerly generally, and freshening somewhat In and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea— Moderate, north-east to north winds, freshening in the southern portion, seas moderate. Weather—Fair to fine generally, becoming milder, but later showers developing in the western and far osuthern portions of the South Island.
