FAIRLIE

“ROBINSON CRUSOE.” To-morrow evening by special request the Fairlie Amateur Players will reproduce the successful pantomime, "Robinson Crusoe,” in the Aorangi Hall. The pantomime on the first presentation was a great success. The proceeds are in aid of the local branch of the Plunket Society and the Fairlie School. Seats may be reserved at F. H. C. Martin’s “Herald” Agency, Fairlie, where the box plan is now open. DOMAIN BOARD. A meeting of the newly formed Domain Board was held in the Fire Brigade room, Mr J. Caskey presiding. Messrs F. H. C. Martin and L. M. Brice waited on the Board to discuss the facilities being made available to travelling motorists. A number of improvements were suggested. Mr Caskey said he was pleased the deputation had waited on the Board to discuss the matter of the camping paddock. The Business Men’s Association could rest assured that the Board would considerably improve the grounds. Mr Caskey reported that a contract had been let to Mr Nolan to cut willows at 1/- a cord, the work to be carried out in a tidy manner. A number of ornamental trees had been planted and were doing well. The roof of the pergola had been repaired and made weather proof. The tender of Messrs Surridge ..lid Boulter at £6/15/- was accepted for painting the gates and the roof of the pergola. It was decided to erect two notice boards in suitable positions directing motorists to the camping paddock. Messrs Caskey, Jeune and Scott were deputed to go into the question of erecting suitable conveniences and fire places at the motor camping ground, and to have the work carried out. The chairman stated that the lessee of the domain paddock had complained that an adjoining farmer had opened a gateway into the Board's land. If was agreed that the chairman interview the farmer and ascertain his reasons for putting a gate in the fence.
