CYCLING AND ATHLETIC CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Timaru Cycling and Athletic Club was held last night, Mr W. Willmott presiding. The annual report stated that the Club had run four open events during the season, all of which had been well contested. Satisfactory entries had been received for all events, and one race had attracted 29 starters which was most gratifying. In connection with entries, thanks were due to Mr E. B. Taylor, for his work at Temuka. The committee w r as to be congratulated on the way the races had been run, special reference being made to the assistance given by Mr D. Edgar, who had now left the district. The balance-sheet disclosed a satisfactory position, there being a credit of £2 8s lOd. Owing to the Club’s inability to raise funds only £ls 3s 6d had been paid out in prize money compared with £4O the previous year. Thanks were due to the handicappers, especially to Mr G. V. Tozer, and to all who had assisted the Club in any way during the year. On the motion of Mr R. Rennett, seconded by Mr R. A. Rodgers, the annual balance sheet and report were adopted. Election of Officers, The following officers were elected— Patron, Mr C. Hall; president, Mr W. Willmott; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Rennett, G V. Tozer, T. W. Satterthwaite, R. G Slade, J. G. Leckie, J. D. Fraser, W. Hall, R. A. Rodgers, H. H. Fraser, M. H. Richards, E. M. Tozer, J. H. Willmott, G. Sara, J. Shea, P. Davey, A. Houston, Mrs J. Parfitt; committee, Messrs R. Hall, R. Peebles, F. Ward. A. Aitcheson, J. Davey, J. W. Mitchell; delegate to New Zealand A. C. and A. Union, Mr G. V. Tozer; handicapper, Mr G. V. Tozer. It was decided to open the season with a cycle race from Timaru to Temuka and back on November 30.
